Training and development programmes
We believe that the growth of our business is driven by our people, who represent the technical, managerial and organizational know-how, and by the new talents attracted by the market. Valorising and promoting internal skills is a mainstream of Webuild's development and training policies. Part of the analysis of the Group's needs to meet the strategic objectives of change management, growth and organizational development.
We defined a Corporate Leadership Model, a guide towards which every Webuild person must be inspired, and refer to during his/her work activity, to identify the managerial skills and behaviours needed to achieve the strategic objectives. We make use of assessment programmes for both "Early career profiles" and for senior ones, which are useful for identifying strengths, areas for improvement, to better define individual growth paths and training actions that are suitable to fill in the identified gaps.
As part of the definition of these growth paths, we use specific tools such as coaching, mentoring, succession planning and job rotation, both among our main projects in Italy and worldwide, and among the Corporate functions.
To promote learning, consolidation and knowledge sharing, we defined specific training tools and programmes: from our Learning Academy, launched in 2015, and dedicated to all Group employees, to our Global Managerial Academy, launched in 2020 and addressed to figures who already covering key or growing roles in our company.
We also provide training programmes for staff present in places where we work, with the aim of ensuring compliance of work activities with our technical, quality, environmental, health and safety standards, and to be able to count on people qualified for current and future projects. Each employee participates in specific training activities for his / her role and needs, with classroom and on-the-job training.
Training in numbers
In 2021, we carried out initiatives, development programmes and created tools for organizational growth, by continuing to contribute to training of our people.

Training and leadership
Skilled workers
Webuild opens "Scuola di Mestieri" (Trade School): We train the new generation of skilled workers
The Webuild "Scuola dei Mestieri" (Trade School) is a professional path that combines theory and experience on the construction site. It aims at training new generation of skilled workers and to integrate then in the Group, with the security of a stable employment and tangible career prospects.
Webuild Learning Academy
The Learning Academy is the training academy of the internal resources of Webuild. Open to all Group people, both juniors, entering the work arena for the very first time, and seniors, the Academy was launched in 2015 to promote a new training model guided by the expertise of our resources, with the aim of strengthening skills and competencies, and sharing knowledge throughout our organization. The Academy's programmes and initiatives contribute to our people's professional specialisation and managerial growth, by also promoting the development of their key competencies.
"Academy" trains colleagues who are experts of specific topics ("subject matter experts") through our "Train the Trainers" programme. Through workshops and ad hoc programmes these people will finally become our internal trainers, promoting and sharing our internal corporate knowledge. Our objective is to create an internal teaching pool (Faculty), with a common teaching method and style.
The main training programmes provided by the Academy concern induction paths on company policies and procedures for new hires, the Compliance area (Administrative Responsibility of Entities pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 231/2001 and Anti-Corruption), the Health and Safety area (with the innovative "Safety Builders" program), language learning, the main areas of technical expertise related to business and economic-financial issues, Human Rights, team building and managerial development initiatives.
The programmes also take place through the company E-Learning Academy, which by exploiting the new digital technologies allows using different distance learning courses, therefore facilitating the sharing of the company's technical-specialist knowledge. The e-learning platform now hosts more than 80 courses, divided into 10 different sections. It aims at promoting a self-learning and self-study logic, leaving individuals the opportunity of creating their personal learning paths.
