The "LYNX Blue Line Extension (BLE) Northeast Corridor Light Rail" project extends the LYNX Blue Line from the 7th Street Station in Center City Charlotte to the University of North Carolina on the Charlotte (UNCC) campus.

The 9.3-mile (14.97 km) extension included 11 new light rail stations, with approximately 3,100 parking spaces divided into four stations with parking facilities.

The BLE also includes 20 level crossings and 11 level crossing structures over or under roads, railways, and environmental features.

Lane Construction provided civil and road work for Segments B and C of the BLE. The contract included civil infrastructure improvements needed to lay the final 4.8 km of track, most of which run down the centre of Tryon Road.

Contractor: The Lane Construction Corporation (U.S. subsidiary of the Salini Impregilo Group)
