I-4 and Sand Lake Road Interchange project
The I-4 and Sand Lake Road Interchange Improvements Project will increase capacity, mobility, and safety at the interchange Sand Lake Road and I-4 in Orange County, Florida (USA).
The project entails roadway improvements and preparations to install a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) with I-4. There is also the replacement of two bridges, the construction of a new bridge for preferential lanes, three new access ramps, as well as the installation of toll and signaling systems. Once completed, the revamped interchange will help minimise travel times and decrease the wait time at traffic signals.
The interchange is part of Orlando’s popular tourist corridor that connects attractions including Universal Studios Orlando, International Drive, Sea World, and Walt Disney World. Improvements to the interchange will contribute to the local economy by easing traffic flow, cutting travel times and reducing excess emissions of CO2.
