Anchieta - Imigrantes motorway system

The Anchieta-Imigrantes system is the main motorway link between the cities of São Paolo and Santos, Brazil’s largest port. The region is densely populated, with more than 34 million inhabitants, equivalent to 20% of the national population. The system consists of six motorway sections for a total length of 176.79 km. The main section is the Rodovia dos Imigrantes with a total length of 58.54 km, in whose construction Impregilo S.p.A. was involved.

The main works consisted of construction of a new motorway section, in addition to the existing section, towards the port of Santos. The new section is 20,272 m long with two three-lane carriageways; each lane is 3.50 m wide.
About than 11.35 km of the motorway passes through a mountainous area with gradients of more than 6% in some cases. This subsection includes three tunnels and six viaducts for a total length of 2,663 m.
