The project foresees the executive design and construction of Lot 4b of the Palermo-Catania HC rail line, for the functional section named Nuova Enna-Dittaino.

Lot 4b includes the construction of 15 kilometres of a new high-capacity rail line, almost entirely developed in tunnels and viaducts. An estimated 8.5 kilometres will pass through three tunnels, and another 2 kilometres across five viaducts. It also involves the construction of a train station at Enna and the revamping of one at Dittaino.

The project foresees construction solutions to minimise the impact of the construction sites on the surrounding areas. Processes that incorporate circular economy principles will also be used. Approximately 99% of the aggregates created by the excavation activities will be reused. Systems will be put in place to ensure the recovery and reuse of industrial water and rainwater, as well as improve energy consumption and self-generating energy through photovoltaic systems.
