Jorf Lasfar Thermal Power Plant - Units 3 & 4

The contract involves the construction of all the civil engineering works for the building of units 3 & 4 of the Jorf Lasfar thermal power plant, with the installation of 2 320-MW generator units in addition to the two existing units (Units 1 & 2).

The works carried out under the scope of the contract have been:

  • Chimney with external concrete chimney shaft with an overall height of 130 m, internal diameter of 12.55 m, including the two internal refractory rods with a diameter of 4.40 m.
  • Concrete ash deposit silos with an internal diameter of 12.55 m, 35 m tall.
  • Machine room building with the main structure in reinforced concrete.
  • Concrete support structure for the turbo-alternator units.
  • Foundations for the boilers and water storage tanks.
  • Foundations for the transformers and electrofilters.
  • Extension of the coolant water pumping and demineralisation buildings.
  • Drains, sanitary sewers, trenches and cable trays.
  • Foundations for coal conveyor belts and ash disposal.
  • Various roads and piazzas.
  • Metalwork for the construction of the machine room building’s covering, coal conveyor belts to be used for supplying the boilers and various metal structures.
  • Extension of the coal storage areas, including the related support structures for moving the coal.

MAIN TECHNICAL DATA:

Excavations: 140,000 m³

Concrete:  65,000 m³

Steel reinforcements: 4,700 tons

Metalwork: 2,000 tons
