Italian Minister Valditara and Webuild Ceo Pietro Salini meet for second edition of “Premio Alberto Giovannini

MILAN, June 22, 2023 - Training is essential to guarantee the competitiveness of a country and its companies. It can take various forms in order to bring out the talent in young people and offer them opportunities to be found in the country and the sector itself. On Monday, June 26, at 11.30 a.m., at the Sala Buzzati of the Corriere della Sera newspaper in Milan, Italian Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara and Webuild Chief Executive Pietro Salini, together with Massimo Ferrari, Webuild General Manager, will illustrate the challenges of keeping technical and professional training abreast of the latest industry trends in order to maintain the competitiveness of the infrastructure sector and create job opportunities for young people.

The ceremony of the second edition of the “Premio Alberto Giovannini”, named after the economist and Chairman of Webuild who passed away 2019, is an initiative dedicated to graduates and undergraduates in engineering, informatics and economics, as well as researchers from Italian universities. It is designed to promote innovation and employment in the infrastructure sector through a series of actions to facilitate the entry of young talent into the labour market and support the implementation of Italy’s recovery plan.

The winners of Webuild Internships and PhD financing for the most brilliant and innovative university theses on innovation and digitalisation in infrastructure will be announced at the ceremony. It is an investment with which Webuild aims to foster innovation and growth in the sector, strengthening its link with the world of research and universities.

The initiative reflects Webuild's commitment to attracting and training talent, celebrating the life and the ethical and professional values of Giovannini, whose international career as an economist brought him to universities such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston that can still guide young people entering the labour market today. It serves as an opportunity to discuss the role of infrastructure for lasting growth in Italy, with the help of new generations, who can guide the development of the sector.

Approximately 45 percent of Webuild's global workforce is under the age of 35.
