Webuild Group: Lane wins USD 299 million contract in the US

The project will widen the Seminole Expressway/SR 417, a strategic infrastructure in Florida

Milan, March 5, 2024 – A new contract in the US for Lane, the US subsidiary of the Webuild Group, that has won a contract worth USD 299 million (€276 million approx.) to build the Seminole Expressway/SR 417 Project in Florida. With this contract Webuild, through Lane, confirms its strong presence in the US, its second most important non-domestic market after Australia with regard to revenues.

The contract (100% Lane) includes designing and constructing expansion works for a section of the Seminole Expressway/SR 417 state road in Seminole County, in Florida. This road artery will serve for evacuation purposes during emergencies and is part of the eastern ring-road of Orlando. It will be widened, and its current 4 lanes will be taken to 8, along a 6-mile length (approximately 10 km), from the Orange County border up to north of the SR 434.

The project was commissioned by Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (Florida Department of Transportation). It aims at ensuring an easier traffic flow for people and goods, and greater road safety for all transiting vehicles. Works are expected to begin in Autumn, with the aim of completing the section by Spring 2029.

The Group is currently working on other road projects in Florida, like the widening of a section of the I-275 at Tampa and strengthening the interconnection between the I-4 and Sand Lake Road in Orange County. Lane is also completing the Poinciana Parkway in Osceola County and is carrying out works on the Mainline Turnpike in Orlando
