MILAN, December 12, 2019 – In the latest example of the triumphant formula of tenacity and team spirit, Maelle Frascari of the Circolo Canottieri Aniene sporting club - sponsored by Salini Impregilo - and Vittorio Bissaro of the Fiamme Azzurre penitentiary police force together won the gold medal in the world sailing championship for the Nacra 17 foiling catamaran mixed crew category in New Zealand.

In Auckland, known as the City of Sails, Frascari received the medal from fellow Aniene club member Caterina Marianna Banti, who had received it the previous year with Ruggero Tita of the Fiamma Gialle tax police force.

The club has been sponsored by Salini Impregilo since 2013 to support 10 young teams in a sport that is respectful of the environment and reflects everything the Group stands for: youth, skills, sustainability, inclusion, diversity, ambition with an international outlook.

Frascari’s gold medal rewards the club’s determination in the face of adversity, which had forced it to miss out on important sporting events these last few years. But it was nevertheless able to go on and win important titles: Frascari came in first in the Hempel World Cup Series Final in France; second in the Kieler Woche in Germany; second in the Trofeo S.A.R. Princesa Sofia in Spain; and sixth in the Europe National Championships in the United Kingdom. Her partner was always Bissaro. In 2015, the club’s Giulia Conti and Francesca Clapcich became world champions in the 49er FX class.

The club’s ability to compete in any condition displays the same versatility exercised by Salini Impregilo, which uses innovation, technology and its organizational skills to help communities grow both socially and economically.
