Milan, June 5, 2024 – Webuild's capacity of creating employment and training specialised workers in the sector has definitely increased, even with the activities of its territorial training centres. And the Group's growth for the half year results is expected to exceed all previous forecasts. With its Trojena dam system (Saudi Arabia), new Paris metro line and railways lines in Sicily and Campania, the Group is preparing itself to reach the threshold of 90,000 people globally in 2024, with 10,000 people hired during the year, of which 2,500 just in Italy (80% in the South). This significant leap in size, which prioritized training and resource quality, is expected to reach 37,000 people hired globally between 2022 and 2024, of which 5,500 just in Italy.

The Group, with its "Cantiere Lavoro Italia” programme has made itself known also as an all-round Italian premium training hub capable of attracting thousands of young men and women, and the unemployed, both from schools and the market arena, training the most searched-for technical profiles, while elevating standards and know-how, worldwide, in the large infrastructure sector. This strategy is already reaping its benefits: in fact, in 2024, of the 2,500 newly hired resources, 1,000 will come from the Group's training centres. This commitment ensures having the professional quality of figures usually difficult to find at one's disposal. And this is true both for specialised staff (like excavating operators, electricians and system engineers, etc.), and for “white collar figures”, so to speak, (i.e. buyers, work accountants, TBM engineers, etc.), thanks to the theoretical and experiential training provided both in the classroom and on the job, which allow these resources to perfectly work in a construction site thanks to the previously acquired technical and safety training skills.

The Cantiere Lavoro Italia programme expands even more both in Calabria and Campania, after the previously opened training schools of Novi Ligure (Alessandria, Piedmont Region, Italy) and Belpasso (Catania, Sicily, Italy). In Campania, in May 2024, the training activities of the Advanced Training Centre of the Naples-Bari High-Capacity/High-Speed railway construction site, took off with the first course for TBM multifunction operators, the technicians that will board the huge tunnel-excavating "moles". A further 7-10 new courses in the June-December 2024 period will also be provided, with the possibility of using the new TBM simulator that will be installed by the end of June 2024.

Four editions of the Webuild Territorial School have already been supplied at the "Cittadella Regionale di Catanzaro", in Calabria, since April 2024, in collaboration with the Calabria Region. Specifically, these courses aim at training participants for the TBM multifunction operator role (mechanized excavation), TBM electrician operator support (mechanized excavation), electrician operator support (traditional excavation), excavator operator support (traditional excavation), lancist operator support (traditional excavation).

Webuild decided to invest in the sector also with specific training plans, especially in Italy, since its works greatly imply excavating and building tunnels. Just like the simulators specifically built for the Belpasso training centre, near Catania, which allow training technicians who will drive the large TBMs, the machines that excavate the tunnels of the railway lines that will revolutionize Sicily's mobility.

"Cantiere Lavoro Italia" is a programme consisting of three types of schools (a Territorial School in collaboration with Work Agencies, to attract resources towards the sector and supply basic training; a Trade School, to provide specialist technical skills to workers; a Professions School, to guarantee more advanced skills to construction site white collar figures). These schools are aimed at different targets: from the young to the unemployed.
