Milan, 27 March 2024 – Three-hundred people have attended the recruitment day organised by Webuild, in collaboration with the Calabria Region, at the Cittadella Regionale Jole Santelli in Catanzaro today. The extraordinary attendance was for the selection of people interested in working at Webuild as part of the “” training and employment campaign launched in Italy, and in particular in the South, for building infrastructure in the country.
The Recruitment Day was aimed primarily at young people in the Calabria region who have completed high school and those with a middle school diploma, and at all those who are currently unemployed and wish to embark on a path of redeployment in the infrastructure sector.
The day was preparatory to the imminent launch – scheduled for 8 April – of the first two training courses for site operators that will be held at the Cittadella di Catanzaro facilities, which have been made available by the Calabria Region within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed with Webuild. The initiative, in fact, follows the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on the launch of the “Cantiere Lavoro Italia” programme in the Region, a memorandum that was signed last November by the President of the Calabria Region, Roberto Occhiuto, and Pietro Salini, CEO of Webuild.
“Cantiere Lavoro Italia”, which was launched by Webuild in November, is a recruitment programme for 10,000 women and men in Italy by 2026, 88% of whom in Southern Italy. The initiative is divided into three types of schools aimed at different targets, from young people to the unemployed, namely: the Local Area School (“Scuola del Territorio”), with basic training; the School of Trades (“Scuola dei Mestieri”), to provide specialised technical skills to labourers; and the School of Professions (“Scuola delle Professioni”), to provide more advanced skills to white-collar workers on construction sites. With this programme, the Group aims to train and then recruit various professional figures, both specialised workers (including excavators, electricians, plant engineers, and others) and clerical staff figures (including buyers, works accountants, TBM engineers). To the people selected, the Group offers basic training and recruitment, specialised training, with a contract as early as at the training phase, free board and lodging during the specialisation phase, and a certificate of acquired skills.
Webuild’s campaign aims to meet the growing need for personnel for the implementation of the 19 strategic projects that the Group is carrying out in Southern Italy, with almost 5,500 people between direct and indirect employees, and 4,300 companies involved since the start of work on the ongoing projects.
