Milan, November 9, 2023 – “We need to think of a new overall change of corporate control systems that allow to concomitantly analyze financial topics, with operating and compliance relates ones". This is what Webuild General Manager Massimo Ferrari said at the Convegno Nazionale AIIA - Associazione Italiana Internal Auditors meeting today in Milan. He also stated that " we are living a historical moment where changes happen suddenly. Therefore, companies must be able to react at the same speed to meet these changes if they wish to be competitive. Internal Audit today must not just be a mere assurance for governance bodies, but also an active driver for internal change, especially due to its knowledge of the organization”. 

The manager, on the basis of his professional background that has enabled him to interface with Internal Audit functions in various groups, both as an independent director of listed companies, as a Co-Central Director and Head of Consob's Issuers' Division, and as a General Manager and Executive in Charge, specified in his speech that "the dynamic national and international context leads us to have to think about issues such as the evolution of risk management and process efficiency in a very dynamic way. The way that rules rapidly evolve and also technology modifies with great speed the risk scenarios therefore forcing companies to continually increase the topics subject to control. Just think of issues such as Cybersecurity, Privacy, new supply chain risks, and last but not least ESG issues that companies can no longer ignore."

Ferrari emphasized that organizations "must aspire to manage information in an integrated way, whether it is business or control systems. The audit can provide top management with a representation of business processes closely complementary to various competence lines. It is not just a matter of being transversal: the point of view expressed by the audit allows the management to understand if departments are working in a coordinated and effective way".
