• Completed renovation of historic Renens train station’s passenger building near Lausanne

• Webuild confirms commitment to projects for sustainable development of communities

RENENS, Switzerland, September 2, 2022 – CSC Costruzioni of the Webuild Group has completed the renovation of the passenger building of the historic train station in Renens near Lausanne in Switzerland. Commissioned by the real estate unit of Swiss railway operator FFS, the project preserved the original features of the building while updating its safety features, its accessibility and its energy efficiency. With the railway in service and the presence of other construction activity nearby, workers took care to complete the project as carefully as possible.

The renovation of the station is part of a wider project of urban renewal that involves the towns of Renens, Chavannes-près-Renens, Crissier and Ecublens, FFS, the canton of Vaud and the public transport company of Losanne (TL). It also confirms Webuild’s commitment to projects that support the sustainable development of communities and their contribution to preserving historic buildings and structures to renew their usefulness to communities.

At the same location, Webuild and its Swiss subsidiary CSC Costruzioni recently delivered Parc du Simplon, an urban renewal project with green buildings that created a new residential and commercial district approximately 5 kilometres from the centre of Lausanne. Awarded the “Minergie P” Swiss certification for sustainability, the office buildings follow the principles of a circular economy, containing reusable materials and sporting solar panels on their rooftops that produce approximately 50% of electricity needs. Elsewhere In Switzerland, CSC is working on other sustainability projects, such as the renovation of historic buildings of the United Nations Palais des Nations in Geneva.
