Ponte Farnese: L'omaggio al nuovo Ponte
Webuild has promoted the "Ponte Farnese"
A bridge between the ages
The "Ponte Farnese" - A bridge between the ages - is an incredible artistic installation conceived by French artist Olivier Grossetête. It represents an unfinished project by Michelangelo. It is in fact the realization of the dream of Cardinal Farnese, who wished to build a bridge over the Tiber, to connect Palazzo Farnese to the gardens of the Villa Farnesina in Rome.
The work, strongly inspired by the principle of sustainability, has been made entirely of cardboard. It involved citizens from July 8 to 11, 2021, as part of a "flying" construction site with laboratories and workshops open to volunteers of all ages, including students of architecture, fine arts, and ordinary citizens.
At the end of the construction, on July 13, 2021, the “Ponte Farnese” was raised by balloons in the sky of Rome, above the Tiber River. After "take-off", the installation was uninstalled, and the cardboard used to build it, entirely recycled.

"Ponte Farnese": A Bridge for the future
A bridge brings spaces closer. It reaches distant cultures, symbolically projecting the future. And in the incredible situation we are all experiencing, it is also a metaphor for an ideal transition towards a future built on models of sustainable coexistence. In the Eternal City of the Ancient Romans and Popes, the bridge is the only access route to the two banks of the Tiber. An opportunity to be ferried from the past to the future.
And “Ponte Farnese” is all of this together.

Webuild has supported the "Ponte Farnese" project. It is convinced that a bridge, whether made of steel or cardboard, is the perfect metaphor to tell the spirit of a sustainable rebirth.
"Ponte Farnese": Who supported the project?
The “Ponte Farnese” project is part of a four-year plan of events and celebrations organized to celebrate the great restoration of Palazzo Farnese. A campaign that was supported by the French Embassy in Italy - Palazzo Farnese aims to narrate the rich history of the Palace, making it accessible to all citizens.
The "Ponte Farnese" event also celebrated the friendship between Italy and France through the partnership signed between the French Embassy in Italy and the Webuild Group, a supporter of the initiative that is also animated by the same sense of environmental protection and artistic heritage that inspires the project.
Webuild is now present in France as it is building perhaps the country's most ambitious and representative infrastructural project: the Grand Paris Express. This new Parisian metro surrounds the capital to become another fundamental tool with regard to inclusion and sustainable mobility.
The Artist: Olivier Grossetête
Monumental and Ephemeral. Two apparently opposite concepts that are light years away from the imaginary world of construction, a world that is fuelled by the material, specific weight and by the solidity of its artifacts. Yet, in the creative work of this French artist, "monumental" and "ephemeral" are two elements capable of coexisting, giving shape to his works as if designed by thought. This is how Olivier Grossetête's giant installations were born: churches, bridges, historical buildings, which are massive to the eye, yet light to the touch. Works that float in the air, just like the "Ponte Farnese", which are sustainable because made only with recyclable materials. But above all, they stand as messengers of lightness, harmony, balance, and unique interpreters of a poetic reading of the world.

STORIES
From Copenhagen to Riyadh and then back to Italy, the story of Webuild Group’s last twenty years
Webuild and Culture: a collective heritage to protect and promote
Over the course of its history, the Group has enriched its “Culture Agenda” with events, demonstrations and initiatives. From celebrating the relocation of the Abu Simbel Temples, to enhancing the archaeological finds in the subways of Thessaloniki, Rome and Milan, attention to Art and Culture is part of the very meaning of doing business. In 2017, Webuild supported the events celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maestro Arturo Toscanini. And again, in 2020, it sponsored the exhibition dedicated to the genius of Raffaello Sanzio at the Scuderie del Quirinale in Rome.
CULTURAL EVENTS AND INITIATIVES
We support the development of culture, which is why we always try to promote it by organising events and initiatives all over the world
The last decade of Webuild's “Agenda Cultura”
From building infrastructure seen as places of aggregation, for peoples, ideas and different cultures, to promoting events and publications, from the Group’s multi-cultural essence, to telling the story of the communities and territories with whom we interact every day, Agenda Cultura is an integral part of our values.
