Cyclopica – The human side of infrastructure
Major works have always posed major challenges. Complex challenges which can only be solved thanks to man: to his intelligence and talent, to his work culture and his dream of contributing to creating a better world.
Cyclopica was a multi-media exhibition staged from May 1 to June 3, 2018, at the Milan Triennale, describing the greatness of the major infrastructural works which, over the last century, have marked man's global development.
The exhibition dipped into Salini Impregilo's vast photographic heritage and immortalised the relationship between man and the giant, between intelligence and strength, through the 2,000 plus works constructed by the Group in over a century of history.
Photos, videos and multimedia screenings showed moments of life from long ago in different worlds and offered the visitor the opportunity of stepping inside real installations, such as the reproduction of a large dam, which divided the itinerary into two large areas to be explored.

The great cyclopean works in the world
In the first area, the earliest selected images dated to the early twentieth century and then sent the spectator along a pathway of evolution leading up to modern times. The second area offered a full immersion multimedia experience on a real construction site, which enabled visitors to perceive the sensations and gestures behind the work. The exhibition's artistic experience went into detail about the trades behind each major construction and included the human complexity of teamwork, which is essential for every major, epic work to be tackled.
Cyclopica was also a programme of meetings dedicated to important work topics. On May 28, 2018, a debate entitled "The HR challenges in processes of internationalisation" was held, during which the challenges posed by processes of integration and mergers between companies with different cultures were discussed. Instead, on May 15 2018, a panel debate was held on the prospects of the sector entitled "Future trends for major infrastructure", culminating with a concert by the Cameristi della Scala Chamber Orchestra.
