The 110-year history of the world's infrastructure
The history of Webuild, the born in 2020 from Salini Impregilo, began in Italy back in 1906 with one great ambition: to grow by building major infrastructure which would endure over time, symbols of progress for future generations which define Man's development and history.
It is a story of Italian ingenuity and commitment, a story about many families and entrepreneurs, who have come together and perpetuate the values of excellence and professional ethics. It is a story based on the inheritance of an ancient, professional identity linked to the trades of craftsmen, to the ability to imagine the future as huge. Webuild's history is linked to the transformations and evolutions of Italy and the world. The works developed over our 110 years in the industry include epic works, such as the rescue of the temples of Abu Sibel in Egypt; the construction of dams in Africa, and hydroelectric plants in Ethiopia; the undergrounds in Paris, San Francisco and Copenhagen, which are redesigning our sustainable mobility system; the Autostrada Del Sole motorway and the high speed railway system in Italy, which have facilitated economic and social integration between the north and the south of our country.
Beyond
Webuild "BEYOND"
To celebrate its 110 years of activity, Webuild organised the exhibition “Beyond – Delivering the Future for the Past 110 years” from September 27 to November 6, 2016, at the Triennale in Milan, visited by about 22,000 people.
For the first time, major infrastructure was treated as works of art, thanks to a multisensory exhibition organised across 8 rooms, using photographs, videos, sound and holograms. The exhibition described not only the excellence of the works, but also the genesis of the companies which evolved, thanks to dams supplying electricity, trains and undergrounds that reduce air pollution, majestic buildings which tell stories of beauty and continuous challenges.
Today, you can relive the experience of the exhibition via the and read all the details in the brochure. However, the celebrations continued with other initiatives: a postage stamp in the series "Excellence of the Italian productive and economic system", a book and a film created for the occasion.
