Webuild CEO Pietro Salini on Results for First Half of 2023

MILAN, July 28, 2023 - "We are very satisfied with the results of the first six months of 2023, and for the whole year. They allow us to remain optimistic about the entire year, and to confirm the forecasts made for the next three years. I believe that performance should be measured not only by growth, but in particular by the soundness and continuity of that growth over a medium to long-term period.

Since 2021, the Group has acquired new orders worth €45 billion. In addition to having reached a record order backlog of €61 billion - half of which from very demanding and competitive foreign markets like Australia, the United States and Europe with low risk profiles – the Group continues to guarantee a unique operational performance.

It has recently delivered iconic projects like a new section of the M4 metro line in Milan between the Linate to San Babila stations, a new headquarters for ENI, and the Bridge over the Danube River in Braila, Romania, the second longest suspension bridge on continental Europe.

In addition to these achievements, it has started work on major projects like the Venezia Station in Rome for the Metro C line, and the new breakwater in Genoa

In Italy, we continue to support clients in bringing forward an infrastructure development plan that is unprecedented since the end of the Second World War. And we can do this thanks to the size that we have achieved in recent years, allowing us to take part in public tenders for major projects – taking the lead for a supply chain of an entire sector - as well as make continuous investments in innovation to improve our performance in terms of execution, safety efficiency and sustainability

Thanks to the expertise of the men and woman who work for our Group, we will always be able to improve our ability to satisfy requests from a sector that focuses on complex projects. This period of expansion in the global infrastructure market pushes us to focus on investments that favour energy transition, sustainable mobility in large cities, the production and protection of potable water, and the construction of plants for products for sustainable agriculture.

Our track record of 270 projects completed in the last 10 years and the 290 others that have been acquired, together with a supply chain - more than half of which is Italian - is a solid testament to the capacity of the Italian system to represent a sector at the international level, while at the same time working on Italy’s much needed transformation.”
