10 July, 2021 - An exceptional construction site in the heart of Rome. This is what Villa Farnesina, the ancient home of the great cardinal Alessandro Farnese, the future Pope Paul III, has become. The beautiful residence of one of the most prestigious Roman noble families, for days, has become the headquarters of the "Farnese Bridge" installation, conceived by French artist, Olivier Grossetête. An initiative promoted by the Embassy of France and the Institut français Italia, and realized with Webuild's support, which the Accademia dei Lincei also supported with great participation, just like the Curator of Villa Farnesina, Virginia Lapenta, rightly stated.
«The Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei - commented Virginia Lapenta - has very gladly welcomed the proposal that the French Embassy addressed to us, to collaborate in conceiving and recreating this Michelangelo-related idea of Pope Paul III».
In fact, inside the Auditorium of the Villa Farnesina area, the workshops open to the public are held where the bridge is being set up.
"The artist's idea - continued Ms Lapenta - is a winning one, and is also real, because Michelangelo's idea was precisely that of creating a flying bridge that would unite the two properties of the noble family".
This is basically what the initiative stands for: "a citizen initiative - concluded Conservator Virginia Lapenta - which allowed a territorial revival in a synergy that has also become European".
