The redevelopment of the Sant'Agnese in Agone Crypt

Agnes in lumen. The project for the enhancement of the Sant'Agnese in Agone Crypt

Professor Claudio Strinati takes us on a journey through the history, architecture, and the art enclosed in the Crypt of Sant'Agnese in Agone. An environment that has remained far away from the gaze of both worshippers and tourists will now live a new life thanks to the Webuild Group's initiative to create a modern LED lighting system that enhances the works and the environments of the crypt, preserving an intimate atmosphere.

In Professor Strinati's account, the events leading up to the martyrdom and sanctification of the very young Agnes are accompanied by images of how the initiative has brought out of darkness and oblivion the reclaimed and restored crypt spaces, where frescoes, tombstones and high reliefs keep vivid the memory of the young Agnes and her martyrdom.

Claudio Strinati was born in 1948 and graduated in Literature with a specialization in art history in 1970. He spent his entire career at MiBac where he was Special Superintendent for the Roman Museum Complex and Director General, until 2013. He is a collaborator of the Teatro di Roma, Rai 3 and Rai5 in 'programmes related to the visual arts, a journalist for the newspapers "La Repubblica" and "Il Messaggero," Secretary General of the National Academy of St. Luke, owner with Federico Strinati of the production company for exhibitions and audiovisuals, Dialogues.
