Webuild’s past 20 years speak of a journey of growth, which transformed a family company into a big international group. From Copenhagen to Riyadh and then back to Italy, the story of Webuild Group’s last twenty years
2020: Webuild bigger and stronger
, an ambitious plan to consolidate the construction sector in Italy, opened Webuild's 2020. Progetto Italia is based on an industrial idea that began with a systemic financial transaction: an expression of interest to acquire Astaldi (the second Italian player in the sector) was presented by Salini Impregilo, during November 2018.
Astaldi is part of a broader plan, which also involves other Italian premium players of the construction sector, like Cossi Costruzioni. The latter was acquired by Salini Impregilo, in 2019, to act as a driving force to relaunch Italy's construction sector.
On November 6, 2020 Webuild announces the , the most important acquisition conducted under Progetto Italia (Project Italy). It leads to the creation of a new Group specialized in large infrastructure projects in sustainable mobility, hydropower, water and green buildings. The Group will be a leader in the Italian market and rank among the leading players of the sector worldwide with an order backlog of more than €40 billion.
