Main roles and skills

Metro TBM Senior Expert

The TBM Expert provides fundamental support in planning and managing a project carried out with mechanized excavation.  He is responsible for managing and installing plant equipment and for their layout, and for determining materials and related flows.  He/she ensures optimal plant performance and compliance with the required standards.  With the TBM supplier and the Plant Department, he coordinates all the activities relating to assembling the machine, assessing that the excavation parameters are in line with expectations.

Rail & Metros PM

The Project Manager is the person representing the project and the main person interfacing with the Project Management Department and the Client.  His/her main objective is guaranteeing that technical, economic and financial results scheduled for the awarded contract are achieved and optimized, supported by the other functions engaged in the project.  He/she maintains and develops, in accordance with the established guidelines, relations with the Client and with any other Partner involved.  He has a deep knowledge of the construction sector in general and, more in detail, of the Rail & Metros sector, which guarantee that he/she can manage the project with a preventive and resolutive approach.

Chief Design Engineer

The Chief Design Engineer is responsible for managing the technical office for the overall project development activities, providing solutions in line with the scheduled times, costs and objectives.

He/she collaborates with design consultants, internal departments and with subcontractors, providing them with an overview of the design and input methodology for managing the project’s completion, even during on-site construction.

The Chief Design Engineer verifies and checks, through project audits, that the drawings meet the requirements and expectations set by the company, before sending them to the Client.

Technical Office Engineer

The Technical Office Engineer elaborates and manages the technical documentation of the construction site needed for executing the works through the preparation of construction drawings and as-built drawings.

During the start-up phase, he/she coordinates the activities related to adapting and developing the reference models of provisional works, and verifies, in coordination with the Technical Director / Chief Engineer, the project data and requirements to ensure completeness, adequacy and compliance with contractual clauses.

During the bid management phase, in coordination with the site’s Technical Department, he/she verifies and defines the construction methods and logic, the operating processing sequences and the equipment set-up works.

With support from the construction site’s management, he/she records any non-conformities, analysing the causes and proposing corrective actions.

He/she provides support in preparing and updating project work schedules.

MEP Construction Manager

The MEP Construction Manager is responsible for supervising the mechanical and electrical work, and for directing the production phase.  He/she collaborates with the Project Manager, the Mechanical and Electrical Design Manager and the Technical Director to develop solutions, procedures and methods for mechanical and electrical engineering.

He/she supervises and monitors construction activities of mechanical and electrical systems and heating systems.

He/she monitors that plans, projects and mechanical and electrical engineering layouts are in line with project instructions, and in case of emergency, he/she is responsible for interrupting production processes to stop or prevent dangerous events.

Site Enginner

The Site Engineer coordinates the functioning of a multidisciplinary workforce that combines direct workforce, integrative work and external subcontractors.  He/she coordinates and ensures compliance of all documents relating to design, safety, quality, environment and sustainability.  He/she prepares personnel, equipment and material plans to ensure the site’s effective mobilization.

He/she monitors and documents the physical progress of the project based on deadlines and delays or interferences that could affect the execution.

He/she ensures that all system procedures, legal requirements, technical regulations and construction practices are followed.

Design Manager

The Design Manager is the person with whom the Proposal Manager interfaces with. In collaboration with the Product Engineering Department, he/she takes care of managing and developing the technical bid phases.  He/she is responsible for studying specifications for the purpose of identifying the technical specifications and areas of competence relating to the project’s design.  He/she coordinates the appointed consultants, agreeing on the most appropriate design choices and ensuring that they comply with the technical-constructive requirements, with the regulatory standards and the technical quality of the solutions, in compliance with the deadlines defined by the activity plan.

During the tender phase, the Design Engineer contributes to evaluating design solutions with aim of increasing the bid’s competitiveness, to improve the contractual result.  He/she is the reference person for the order and solves any problems detected during the project’s implementation phase.

Manuela is passionate about construction and an expert in mobility and transport infrastructures.  Working on iconic projects like the Cityringen in Copenhagen and the Red Line Metro in Doha, she has achieved many of her professional ambitions.  But he still has a dream: to build an airport.
