AEROPORTO INTERNAZIONALE GIOVANNI PAOLO II DI CRACOVIA-BALICE

The airport is the second-largest in Poland, after Warsaw Airport, and was built in the south of Poland, 11km west of Kraków.

The project included the expansion and reconstruction of the international passenger terminal, the construction of external systems and links with the multi-storey car park and railway station, as well as the construction and modernisation of the internal transport system.

The new terminal building spans a total indoor area of 26,000m², with a volume of 424,000 m³. The works were carried out with a view to boosting the airport’s capacity to up to 8,000,000 passengers per year, with up to 1,800 departures/hour and 1,800 arrivals/hour with a C-rated IATA Level of Service.

The complexity of the project was increased by the need to maintain the proper day-to-day functioning of the existing terminal, which was upgraded in terms of both architecture and systems in line with the new building.
