Cluj-Napoca International Airport is located 9km east of the city centre and is the second-busiest airport in Romania. It was also the first international airport in Romania which, as of 2008, has been able to operate according to the rules of the Schengen Agreement. 

The project involved the construction of the arrivals and departures terminals, with the work being carried out in order to boost the airport’s capacity to 1,500,000 passengers per year.
