Sustainable Mobility Solutions: metros, railways, roads, motorways, bridges, ports and maritime works

Webuild is amongst the main global players in the construction of infrastructure for urban and extraurban  sustainable mobility. From metros to light rail lines, to high-speed railways, from building roads and motorways to ports and airports.

Transport infrastructure is fundamental to ensure socio-economic development of cities and territories, reduce CO2 emissions and consumption connected to fossil sources, besides making commutes safer and reducing road deaths.

The projects to build metros that Webuild is currently building, like the new Line C for sustainable mobility in Rome, will allow 4.9 million people every day to move rapidly, efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way thanks to cutting-edge infrastructure. While railway projects will help avoid the emission of 4.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year, road infrastructure continue to play a fundamental role in the movement of people and goods.

Among the completed projects, in 2026 the Webuild Group brought into operation the Naples-Cancello High-Speed Rail section. Internationally, it opened the Western Station to the public, completing the Riyadh Metro Orange Line. In Lesotho, the Group inaugurated the Senqu Bridge, a key infrastructure of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, Africa’s largest water transfer scheme and a binational programme between Lesotho and South Africa.

Sustainable mobility is a true enabler of development, capable of transforming the way people live, work and travel, and helping to make cities and territories more inclusive and resilient.

We export our sustainable mobility project skills globally

The Webuild Group builds roads and motorways globally that promote the development and mobility of both people and goods from urban centres to the most remore regions. These road infrastructures that concomitantly interpret urban changes, offer concrete solutions to chronic traffic congestion in large cities and promote the use of sustainable mobility means

Our track record boats some of the world's largest metros like those in Riyadh, Doha, Copenaghen, Parigi, Milano and Rome; high-speed railways in Italy, Austria, Norway, Sweden, Turkey and the US, including unique works like the New Panama Canal, which since 2016 allows Post-Panamax ships to cross the American continent avoiding circumnavigation, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 16 million tonnes per year.
